Michael Waters was born in Atlantic City N.J. After attending Parsons School of Design from 1977 - 1981 where he studied illustration, he pursued a career in the fashion industry working as an assistant designer and illustrator. He left New York and relocated to Key West, Fl. where he worked in the hospitality industry. In the coming years he traveled frequently settling for extended stays in Torremolinos, Spain and New Orleans La. where he supported himself through various occupations. After moving back to the Jersey shore he began to reeducate himself as a painter. He became involved in local non-profit art organizations most notably The Ocean City Fine Arts League where he served as the director in 2006 and served on the board of trustees from 2007 to 2010. He also serves on the boards of the Atlantic City Art Center and the Ventnor Cultural Arts Center. He has exhibited his work with The Society of New Jersey Artists, The Toms River Artists Community, The Willingboro Art Center, The Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts and The Noyes Museum of Art where he is a Signature Artist Member. Also in Ocean City at Accent Gallery and East End Gallery in Margate. He is now represented by The William Ris Gallery in Stone Harbor.
